		He was the primary instructor of basic traffic crash investigation at the recruit level and At-Scene Traffic Crash Investigation at the Michigan State Police Training Academy from 1992 until his retirement. He has been a certified law enforcement instructor for traffic crash investigation in the states of Michigan, New Mexico, Arkansas and Florida and is an adjunct faculty member on the Institute of Police technology and Management (IPTM), University of North Florida. Mr. Brandt spent 4 years conducting traffic investigations relating to traffic control orders in the field prior to becoming responsible for overseeing the program. These investigations included working with local county road commissions and the Michigan Department of Transportation conducting site visits, speed studies and recommending safe and reasonable speed limits and parking restrictions on roadways throughout Michigan.
